What a ride! The Capital of Culture year was colourful, inspiring and full of surprises - a truly exceptional year.
On 29 November Chemnitz sets new standards with a grand finale will bring this glittering celebration of diversity to a close. Chemnitz is ready to start 2026 with fresh ideas, a proud spirit and plenty of vigour.

Christmas - the most wonderful time of the year
Every year, we do the same with our Advent traffic make your visit to the Chemnitz Christmas market even more comfortable. Thanks to the Extension of the regular service to Thalheim on the C14 line until the early evening is also available on Advent weekends in combination with the C13 line between Thalheim ⇆ Chemnitz every half hour. With additional connections of the C11 line in the Half-hourly cycle between Stollberg ⇆ ChemnitzThe atmospheric flair of the local Christmas market can be enjoyed even more comfortably in the city centre on all four Advent weekends.
Changed routing on our C lines - Mountain parade: 29 November 2025
On 29 November 2025, Chemnitz will celebrate the finale of the Capital of Culture Year 2025 with the European Mountain Parade through the city of Chemnitz.
Traditionally, the Great Mountain Parade in Chemnitz heralds the start of the Christmas season in the Ore Mountains. Around 1100 participants are expected this year. The mountain parade starts at 2.00 pm. The route leads from Theaterplatz via Richard-Tauber-Straße, Straße der Nationen and Brückenstraße via Theaterstraße and then back to Theaterplatz, where gThe grand closing ceremony takes place around 3.00 pm.
Because Chemnitz city centre will once again become a big stage, adjustments to the traffic routing will be necessary. We have The timetables for our C lines between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. have been adjusted accordingly, as they are running differently due to closures in the city centre.

Advent transport - more frequency for relaxed Christmas market visits
The much-praised Chemnitz Christmas market attracts tens of thousands of visitors to Chemnitz city centre every year. Interest is particularly high on the Advent weekends - visitors come from near and far - and in the Capital of Culture year there will probably be even more.
In order to get into the city and back home safely after a mulled wine or two, we are increasing our transport services at the Advent weekends by setting up additional train connections on our two main lines C11 (Chemnitz Stollberg) and C14 (Chemnitz Thalheim) at the most important times.
Through the Extension of the regular service to Thalheim on line C14 until the early evening on Advent weekends in combination with line C13 between Thalheim ⇆ Chemnitz every half hour. With additional connections on the C11 line every half hour between Stollberg ⇆ Chemnitz city centre, you can also reach your destination much more frequently and conveniently.
