City-Bahn had put an attractive offer on the table, but was unable to agree to the demand for a 35-hour working week.<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0a4d6d9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0a4d6d9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>City-Bahn Managing Director Friedbert Straube:<em> \"Our offer was in line with the outcome of many other collective wage agreements - and that's what the city railway workers should get.\"<\/em><\/p><p><br \/>The crux of the negotiations: The GDL is demanding a reduction in working hours to a 35-hour working week and at the same time over 25 % more pay. Friedbert Straube: <em>\"The industry can't afford that in terms of personnel. And even if it did: If we were to start doing this, we would attract skilled workers from other sectors that are themselves suffering from a shortage of skilled labour: Paramedics, carers for the elderly and nurses, for example. Fuelling this crisis cannot be the purpose of collective bargaining or the task of municipal companies. I have made that very clear.\"<\/em><\/p><p><br \/><strong>The GDL announced on Tuesday evening that it would also be striking on the City-Bahn from 10pm on 15 November to 6pm on 16 November.<\/strong><\/p><p><br \/><strong>Passengers please note that services may have to be restricted before 10 pm and will only be resumed gradually after the end of the strike.
